Default Spelling Bee Competition

Dear Parent/Guardian,
It’s that time again! We are excitedly preparing for our 5th Annual Al Manar Language School American Section Spelling Bee! Here you are the list, please download it if your child is interested in participating. The list is divided according to their grade level . Have your child memorize the list that goes with his\her grade level.

The competition will be held on March 27th ,2017

Competition will follow the following format:
The student is given a word to spell, they should: SAY the word, SPELL the word, SAY the word. If a student fails to pronounce the word correctly at first, they will be corrected by the event emcee. If the student spells the word correctly they will remain in the competition. If the student misspells the word and pronounces it again signaling the end of their turn, they will be “out.” If a student corrects themself before they say the word the second time signaling the end of their turn, that is acceptable. For clarification a student may ask for: the pronunciation again, a definition, or a sentence using the word. If a student spells a word incorrectly, the student following them must spell the same word correctly. In the event that all remaining competitors misspell the same word, all competitors that missed that word will return to competition. Competition will continue until there is a single winner for each grade level.
In the event that a grade level completes their given list, and there are still competitors remaining, the next grade level list will be used. Should this happen with grades 7-9, the judges will open a dictionary to a random page, and that will be used. This is a spelling competition after all.

Default A useful link

If anyone needs definitions sample sentences, and pronunciation guides this is a very useful link:

Replace the last word "inclement" with any word from the spelling list, and you will be given the dictionary definition, pronunciation (click the speaker con), and sample sentences.

Good luck all!
